“I want a snack” is all we hear all summer, so we turned to Amanda Jabucowicz for some delicious, healthy snacks that are going to make both the kids (and us moms!) happy!
A whole new experience is waiting for you at the Bronx Zoo! Nature Trek allows children (ages 3 and up) to get a giraffe’s-eye view as they explore a tree village 14 feet off the ground. Cross wavy bridges and crawl through elevated tunnels. Take in the view from a human-sized bird nest and balance on wiggly surfaces.
While almost anyone living in Westport knows what an enormous influence “Melissa & Doug” has had both on our children and this local community, not many know that Melissa has lived here for 35 years, has 6 children, and is a self-proclaimed introvert! She is also the quintessential bargain shopper (embarrassing her kids at times with her coupon cutting!), uses no apps, and holds a small number of friends close like precious jewels. In the midst of her very full life, she has recently found herself fantasizing about dance parties with everyone she loves most, and only regrets not being immortal so as to be there for every moment of her childrens’ lives. She has been using her imagination to create products since she was a child, and feels incredibly fortunate to have met Doug and to have taken a risk to follow her passion almost 30 years ago.
Since 2002, Linda Sharkey and her husband Scott have had a tremendous impact on the Fairfield County community with their founding of Sharkey’s Cuts for Kids, a business that now has 40 franchises worldwide. While Sharkey’s has been like a child in and of itself, Linda has 3 other children who she loves spending days with at Compo and a night out at Pink Sumo. She is recently addicted to SnapChat, a self-proclaimed beauty product junkie (Maybelline Baby Lips is a recent fave!), and like so many of us can’t get enough of Joey’s fries! She values loyalty above all, and shares how important she feels it is to ensure each of us maintains something – be it a hobby, job, friend – just for ourselves!
Come join us THIS Thursday, 7/27, at the Westport Playhouse for Happy Hour and the show Grounded - all for $25! Email email@example.com if you would like to join us!

While we often think summer means more time for running outside or even a beach walk, there never seems to be enough time in the day. Fitness trackers, however, can help us keep track of our steps, and perhaps burn some extra calories while we’re at it. Here’s a great guide to choosing the best tracker for you!
For many people in Westport, Dan Woog’s “06880” blog is how they find out anything and everything going on locally. What many don’t know is that Dan grew up here, has been the Staples Varsity boys soccer coach for 15 years, has written 11 books, and has been at the forefront of the LGBT community for over a decade. We were honored to sit down with Dan and get the inside scoop from this incredible man who keeps so many of us in the know!

Though many in Westport know Irene for her incredible photography and passion for the “wonder Woman”, many don’t know she was raised on a catfish farm in Oklahoma, and had a very robust career behind the camera for many years helping to style models and fashion designers in NYC, including Betsy Johnson, and working alongside Annie Leibovitz. Here in Westport, she loves hiking at Earthplace, a good dinner at Bodega, and is a CrossFit addict! She also reveals how the Cozi app has helped her stay organized in life, and that her secret guilty pleasure is the show Scandal!
Summer is here, which means school is out and camp is in. If you’re sending little ones off to day camp, it’s time to think about what the heck they’re going to eat. Since camp meals can be more stressful than packing school lunches, we turned to registered dietician and athletic trainer, Dana White, for some tasty, healthy and easy ideas to make meal prep feel like you’re on vacation.
Everybody loves a backyard BBQ – cold drinks, grilled meat and most importantly, some yummy side dishes. Here is a fan favorite (that does require some chopping!)- Veggie Soba Noodle Salad!
With the longer days of summer, we’re all constantly looking for new kid-friendly restaurants locally. We turned to the experts at CT Bites to curate a list of their favorites for us, and we love what they came up with! If you’re like us, some you’ve likely heard of, but others appear to be hidden gems – Bon Appetit!
July is all about travel! For us, car mounts for holding your phone and a travel potty are total game changers, so we wanted to share our favorites with you!
You may recognize Anne from around town- or because of Beau Soleil- her new line of fun, beach friendly visors! What many may not know is that Anne used to be a fitness model in NYC, and was featured in a MTV fitness video. While Anne absolutely adores her three sons, one of her biggest regrets is that she did not meet her husband sooner in life so she could have had 6 kids! She loves The Whelk, values creativity in all its forms, and is known for often calling loved ones “cutie”. A constant bursting of positive energy, Anne is one not to be missed!
If you’re anything like us, every summer involves a new attempt to figure out the best sunscreen options for our kids – and ourselves. With the constantly evolving perspectives on the frequency of application needed, and which sunscreens actually work and are safe, we turned to Westport mom of four, and renowned Dermatologist, Rhonda (Ronnie) Klein for her “favorites” for this summer – and year round!
