Looking for stronger nails? We have just the product for you!!

As moms, life can be pretty rough on our nails. Between wrangling (and cleaning up after) kids, scrubbing dishes and constantly washing our hands, our nails go through a lot on a typical day. Not to mention the effects that other factors like hormones, aging and even manicures (particularly gel and acrylic ones) can have on them. The result? Brittle, dry nails that are prone to splitting and breaking. Which is why we are so intrigued to learn about the new Si-Nails pen from ISDIN, a Spanish skincare brand popular with dermatologists. Here are 5 reasons we love it!

Meet Dana!

Meet Dana!

Meet Dana! While some know her as the cheerleading wife of Chef Brian Lewis (think OKO and The Cottage), Dana is mom to twin 5 year old boys and a nurse practitioner with almost 20 years of experience, who recently opened her own practice, DPL Aesthetics! As her own skin became a primary focus, she recognized her desire to make taking care of your skin as accessible and simple as getting your hair or nails done. In her free time, she loves Compo Beach, visiting her family in Newfoundland (where she’s from), and date nights at Tavern at Grey Barns! For anyone who knows Dana, she is a powerhouse – authentic as it gets, humble, and incredibly driven. We can’t wait to support her on this next endeavor!

Sunscreen 101 for Kids and Adults – from the Experts at Modern Dermatology!

Sunscreen 101 for Kids and Adults – from the Experts at Modern Dermatology!

The good news is sun safety has never been more buzzed about…the downside is the landscape has become confusing for consumers, between new products seemingly launching every day, vitamin D hype, and headlines about SPF’s chemicals causing harm. We turned to the experts at Modern Dermatology in Westport to share their recommendations – for babies, kids, men and women!!

Summertime Salads!

Summertime Salads!

With summer officially here, we turned to registered dietician and local mom, Robin Barrie for some great salad recipes – and options – that will ensure you never get sick of salad! Here are some homemade recipes, to which you can add your own favorite proteins (anything from burgers, to hard boiled eggs and fish) and switch up the fruits and vegetables. Happy creating!

Meet Robyn!

Meet Robyn!

If you have never heard of Connecticut Children’s, the non-profit children’s hospital based in Hartford with specialty care centers in Fairfield and Danbury, it is a truly incredible resource. Robyn Matloff, pediatric nephrologist (kidney doctor), and mom to two young girls, recently became their Medical Director of Physician Liaisons for Fairfield County, enabling her to work with local pediatricians, hospitals and practices to make sure they know all the amazing services that Connecticut Children’s is bringing to our backyard. Thrilled to no longer be commuting, Robyn loves days – or nights – at Compo, swears by Sharkey’s tropical hair oil, and would be a Disney Travel agent in a next life. She wishes she could have grown up in a community like this, and feels incredibly lucky for the “framily” she has found here. We are lucky she found us!

Meet Katie!

Meet Katie!

Katie is mom to two young boys, and is very excited to bring her experience as a registered dietician and wellness to her hometown, where she can help individuals and families looking to live a healthier lifestyle. After years in finance, she followed her passion for nutrition and wellness and spent time in NYC working with corporations on wellness in the workplace. Though Katie misses the city, and especially the Japanese handrolls from her favorite spot in Brooklyn, she and her family love being back! Katie is an organizer at heart, loves working with people, and is constantly coming up with creative ways to make eating more enjoyable for kids – and adults. We’re glad to have you back Katie!

Meet Nathalie!

Meet Nathalie!

In honor of Brain Tumor Awareness month, we wanted to share the story of a Westport Mom who is a brain tumor survivor, and recently published a book sharing her story. Titled “8-Rediscovering Life After a Brain Tumor” because the number 8 was the only thing she could see after her brain surgery, Nathalie details for her daughter life before her tumor, and the many challenges she faced after, including having to relearn how to read and write at age 35. Today, Nathalie loves time at the beach, margaritas at BarTaco and is grateful to the many friends who have been like family to her. Nathalie’s is a story of hope, resilience and persistence – and a reminder that we moms are often even stronger than we ever knew we needed to be!

Migraine 101 from Dr. Kate Mullin!

Dr. Kate Mullin is the Medical Director of Clinical Research at the New England Institute for Neurology and Headache (NEINH), headquartered in Stamford, CT. She recently shared with us the latest, greatest treatment options for migraine suffers.
“It is an exciting time to be a headache doctor. The last few years there has been a boom in headache medications, procedures and devices,” says Dr. Mullin. With 30 million people being affected by migraines, she says “it’s about time pharmaceutical and technology companies started taking this population seriously.” Here’s what Dr. Mullin suggest any migraine sufferer should be considering:
