Meet Dana! - Westport Moms

How old are your kids and how long have you lived in the area? Hi! I am Dana Power Lewis. I am the proud mom to amazing 5 year old twin boys, Jude and Jax, and wife to the well-known (Chef), Brian Lewis (inserted by Westportmoms: think OKO and The Cottage=)). We have lived in Wilton for the last 9 years.
How did you end up where you are now in terms of your job, or whatever passion project it is you might be doing? In addition to the joy of being a full time Mom, I am also a Nurse Practitioner (NP). As an NP, I have specialized in Cardiology for the last 6 years and work at Cardiac Specialists in Fairfield (prior to this I spent 13 years in Emergency Room Nursing). Recently, I decided to be brave and do something I had never done before. After some intense training, I opened my own business…DPL Aesthetics. After hitting 40, I realized I needed some wrinkles to disappear=) I started investigating and determined that not only did I want to get Botox myself, but that I also had the qualifications to administer it on my own. My goal as a new business owner in the cosmetic field is to bring a personal, conservative and comprehensive approach to wrinkle relaxers and derma fillers, offering Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau, Restylane and Juvederm. I want to make self-care and beautifying your skin as easy and simple as getting your hair or nails done. With almost 20 years of nursing experience, I believe that in terms of meeting the needs of my patients, reading, knowing and listening to my clients, I have truly unique experience and the ability to really make a difference.
What is your favorite family activity to do in Westport or the surrounding towns? We love Compo beach. We have spent hours playing in the sand, riding bikes or hanging out on the playground.
What is your favorite meal at OKO and the Cottage, and if you aren’t eating there, what’s a current fav? The boys and I enjoy our date nights at OKO or the Cottage. My “go to” meal at OKO is the Hamachi sashimi 6 or 8 pieces and broccoli tempura; I get this dish pretty much every time I go there. I always have steam buns at the Cottage, I mean always (no sticky bun though)! When not dining here, our favorite place is the Tavern at Greybarns. The food is stellar and the atmosphere and decor is sublime.
What’s your can’t live without beauty product? I don’t have a lot of skin care products, but some favorites are Bobby Brown tinted moisturizer with SPF, the What’s Up from Benefit, and more recently their eyebrow pencil (I’m trying to give the whole brow thing a go, though I am not sure how successfully it’s going)! For moisturizer, I love Dr. Hauscha revitalizing day cream; it’s EPIC! (P.S. It’s sold at Whole Foods).
What are you most excited about in life right now? I am overjoyed watching my two boys grow and love experiencing life with them. I can’t believe they’re going to kindergarten in the fall (insert crying emoji). They are truly amazing little boys.
If you could pick one restaurant or store to come to Westport that isn’t here now, what would it be, and why? I am not a big shopper. I have to love something to buy it. I’m currently loving Welden bag(s) and recently went a little crazy at a sample sale (mostly gifts of course). I think a Welden store in Westport would be awesome!
What is your greatest regret? I truly don’t have any regrets thus far in life; I feel as though disappointments have led to different paths and different choices. I am 97% of the time a very positive person. I have been thoroughly blessed.
What is the best white lie you have told your kids? Oddly the first thing that comes to my mind is that I tell them the “Cavity Man” is coming to get their teeth if they don’t brush them (LOL).
What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you? One thing that people may be surprised to know about me is that I am from Newfoundland…an island off the east coast of Canada (and the most eastern place in all of North America; it even has its own time zone). My family and I love our trips to Newfoundland and visit twice per year. It’s an incredible place and the people are amazing!
What is your most marked characteristic? I am known for my high energy, humility and positivity. I love to motivate and empower people to care for themselves. This also helps me be accountable.
What do you most value in your friends? Their honesty, authenticity and their unconditional love…people with whom I can be Me!
