Meet Jane Rosen – Author of our first Local Moms Network Book Club Book! (A perfect Summer read!)

We’re thrilled to launch The Local Moms Book Club with Eliza Starts a Rumor! The book revolves around Eliza Hunt, a mom who created the Hudson Valley Ladies’ Bulletin board when her twins were in preschool. Cue the mom forum drama (a la today’s social media groups) and you have a funny story that reveals the power of moms coming together, which we of course love. Katie Couric called it “the perfect summer read” and we have to agree. We spoke to author Jane Rosen, herself a mom of three, about her inspiration, writing career and summer reading list.

Dock & Dine Restaurants with Water Views

For locals in Fairfield County, the Long Island Sound can make summer feel like a vacation. Boating is even more popular these days, lending itself to the perfect social distancing activity. Waterfront restaurants are a lovely way to dine alfresco, with an added bonus of “dock and dine” options. We’ve put together a list of area restaurants where boating to dinner is part of the culinary experience. Don’t have a boat? No worries…you can also drive to these scenic spots!

Meet Lindsay – and EPIC 365!

Meet Lindsay – and EPIC 365!

While this strange time has many of us feeling stuck or craving the return to “normal life,” mom of two and certified Occupational Therapist, Lindsay Yellin used these last 4 months to turn her dream of building a one-of-a-kind playspace for kids into launching an app – EPIC Play 365 – designed to help families have 30-minutes of daily intentional connectivity time together while enjoying an EPIC PLAY activity. Though It just launched in late July, the response has been tremendous! In her free time, Lindsay loves time at Compo beach, and shares the fun fact that she and her husband met on JDate (and were the company’s poster child couple for 6 months!) Her enthusiasm for what she is doing is contagious, and we look forward to watching this rockstar mom take the world by storm!!

Meet Melissa!

Meet Melissa!

Westport mom of three grown kids, and a 3rd generation lawyer, Melissa knew at age 9 she wanted to be a lawyer when she sued the National Little League Association and the Town of Fairfield because she was not allowed to play baseball. As she says, “she has been fighting for her clients ever since!” As one of very few female Divorce and Family Law attorneys in the state of CT (maybe more valuable post Covid time than ever=)), Melissa founded and runs Needle|Cuda, a firm devoted to balancing the needs of its clients in difficult situations, and preserving the long-terms interests of the family. Melissa is known for her red hair, dedication to her clients, and her love of sports. Fun fact – she started a moms Fantasy Football League to help she and her mom peers connect with each other – and their teenage sons! She’s a rockstar mom and lawyer, and a force to be reckoned with!
