  • Description: Our skilled nature mentors will introduce your child to primitive and naturalist skills by tailoring each camp day to match the natural curiosity of their campers. Campers learn how to craft handmade tools and art projects from natural materials, track animals, identify bird language, make friction fires, build forts and shelters, and forage for safe wild edibles. Along the way, all campers learn nature-inspired games, songs, and have free time to explore streams, mountainsides, and other unexpected nature mysteries encountered throughout the day.

  • Description: A range of Farm experiences that allow kids to get out in nature, commune with live animals, get busy in the gardens, and do fun projects and activities.     • Teen Summer Service Program runs in two-week increments starting in late June. Participants in grades 6-8 grow the vegetables that they will donate to local food pantries and sell at the program’s Farm’s weekly market. As part of our service mission, we will cook a nutritious meal for the Gillespie Center. For animal lovers, there is animal care, feeding, and halter training. We explore farm life, composting, creating a pollinator garden, and adopting the Zero Waste initiative. All Covid safety measures in effect.
    • Little Farmers Preschool Camp. Dropoff program. Ages 4-6. Weekly sessions starting in late June-mid August. Mornings from 8:30-noon Monday-Thursday.  Sign up for as many days/sessions as you’d like! Youngsters will dabble in all aspects of the farm experience—from planting and harvesting fresh veggies in the garden to feeding our various farm animals. Children will learn how to spot squash bugs, where to look for monarch caterpillars, and how to collect eggs from the chicken coop! Children will delight in games, crafts, and food preparation using veggies straight from the gardens in this delightful and peaceful outdoor farm setting. **This is an outdoor program; please check the Westport Parks & Recreation Cancellation line for cancellation notifications.
    • Jr. Farmers’ Camp. Calling all Jr. Farmers! For kids in grades 1-5 who just want to get their hands dirty and experience what it is to be a real farmer. Morning Sessions: 8:30-noon, Afternoon Sessions 1-3:30 p.m. Learn about sustainable farming first-hand through planting and caring for a garden, feeding and caring for animals, including our alpaca, sheep, goats and more. Campers will hunt for fresh eggs, delight in farm games, maker activities, and taste veggies straight from the gardens. **This is an outdoor program; please check the Westport Parks & Recreation Cancellation line for cancellation notifications.

  • Description: The Connecticut Audubon Society’s summer camp at the Center at Fairfield is a state-licensed summer camp offering weekly sessions for preschoolers from 9 a.m. to noon, and for ages 5 to 11 from 9am – 330pm. Campers attend week-long, nature-themed programs to learn about wildlife up close and build life-long connections to the natural world while having fun outdoors in a safe, small group setting.  A choice of different themes each week offers opportunities to investigate nature’s riddles, learn about protecting wildlife habitats, develop outdoor skills and meet live animals. All camp programs are led by teacher-naturalists and counselors experienced in working with children.  Camp programs will follow the policies and guidance specific to COVID-19 provided by the Connecticut Office of Early Childhood Education.
