Berry Picking!

It is officially that time of year again when you can load up the car with your little ones and head to a farm to pick delicious FRESH fruit!!

Westport Moms has created a list of farms in and near Fairfield County that offer pick your own fruits, berries, and vegetables. Strawberries are in season right about now and at the end of the month cherries will also be ready. July is perfect for picking blueberries, raspberries and also peaches. August –October you can pick Apples and pumpkins.

Strawberries are the first to arrive, then blueberries, raspberries, peaches, pears, apples, and pumpkins. Don’t miss the sunflower maze at this 140-year old family farm that has been cared for by six generations. This year, PYO strawberries is open for business mid-June. They plan to be open everyday from 830am-130pm, weather and crop availability permitted!

*Remember the Farm Market & Creamery are open year round and their Little Red Barn with food, music and drinks is open. Call (203)458-PICK for information & updates on their 24-hr line.

Jones Family FarmsShelton
Pick your own strawberries and blueberries in summer, pumpkins in the fall, and Christmas trees during the holidays. Weather permitting, they aim to be open Mondays through Saturdays 8am to 530pm, and Sunday mornings from 8am to 12noon. Make a reservation to PYO here!

Pick your own strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, apples, peaches, pears, and pumpkins. Pack a picnic and enjoy the view, or visit the Apple Barrel. They encourage people to come during the weekday (Monday through Friday) or earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon on the weekends.

View their COVID-19 guidelines here. Fruit picked cannot be consumed in the field, and should be washed/eaten at home.

Silverman’s FarmEaston

The Market is open 9am to 5pm. The Animal Farm is open 9am. to 5pm. (restrictions may apply please visit their Animal Farm page for more information). Apples are growing! we’ll keep you posted. They are usually ready for PYO sometime in the middle of August. Raspberries are growing! Look for PYO berries end of June / early July. Blueberries are growing! Look for PYO end of June / early July. (they’re usually picking by July 4th) Peaches are growing! Look for PYO in July!

In addition to picking, the kids will love petting, feeding, and interacting with the farm friends in the animal farm, including llamas, goats, sheep, and emus.
