There’s Snow Place Like Home: Your Guide to Family Fun During a Snowy Day

Yay, it’s a snow day!” said no mom ever. The kids are overjoyed but all you can think about is how stir crazy everyone is going to be by noon. We empathize and we’re here to offer some fun ideas to keep the kids happily entertained. Arts and crafts, cooking and baking, iPads and movies, board games and books are good options but let’s take it up a notch.
Amazon Proves to be the Best Thing Ever… Again
Have some extra Amazon boxes laying around from the holidays? Make your own truck complete with a snow plow or flip some boxes upside down and make your own restaurant tables or indoor picnic.
Indoor Obstacle Course
Pillows, hopscotch with painters tape, ball pit, jumprope, blanket tunnels, and couch climbing is all fair game!
Marshmallow Snowmen and Hot Chocolate Party
This is always a good idea for a snowy day. Spending time with the kids in the kitchen is a fun, messy option but skip the brownie mix that will only kill 3 minutes! Grab some large marshmallows and a lollipop stick, bamboo sticks, or straws. Stick 3 marshmallows together, melt some chocolate chips and use some clean paint brushes to paint eyes, a nose, smile, buttons, stick arms- whatever their little hearts desire. Make some hot cocoa and enjoy!

Snowball Scavenger Hunt
Make snowballs with crumpled paper and plastic wrap or cotton and tube socks. Hide them around the house. Create (or print out) clues. Distribute them so that one clue leads to another. Place a “treasure” or treat at the final destination.

Valentine’s Day Prep
It’s never too early for the kids to start writing their Valentine’s Day cards. Grab some construction paper and get creative!
