Have you heard about the newly formed Friends of Compo Beach Group? If not, now you have and YOU will be grateful to this group of women for making waves with regard to the status of Compo Beach.
In just over a month, a group of women joined their voices to form Friends of Compo Beach at friendsofcompobeach.com to provide constructive, non-divisive feedback to town leaders and candidates about improvements needed to correct the serious health and safety issues that emerged at Compo Beach in summer 2017. Along the way, they have also decided that they would like to be a strong voice for maintaining the small town character of the beach, and organizing residents and users of the beach to advocate for improvements there.
The immediate aim is to have the town put forth a reasonable and fair plan for Compo Beach and execute it in time for summer 2018 with these goals:
- Reduce crowd sizes
- Fix the traffic problem
- Ensure parking for residents
- Enforce rules for public behavior and courtesy
- Ensure services such as boat ramps are accessible (this also includes clean and useable bathrooms!)
- Restore a safe, clean and environmentally sound beach (this includes adequate trash removal)
Friends of Compo Beach has reached out to WestportMoms. They need our support on these issues. After all, they impact US as much – if not more than – these founding women since they all have much older children BUT they are doing this to keep Westport great for us as it was for them!
They would love to hear from “the moms” on what your ideas, thoughts and hopes for Compo Beach are. (You can get as crazy as a splash pad, lounge chairs, fenced in playground, and more)
Please visit their site, and email them at firstname.lastname@example.org
WestportMoms & Friends of Compo Beach all have the same goals to keep Compo Beach a beautiful, safe place for our families.
