Meet Sasha, a local dentist who followed her passion! - Westport Moms

This Mondays Meet a Mom is none other than Sasha Drexler from Sasha Drexler Dentistry which is located in the Brick Walk. Coming from a family of dentists this was a natural step for Sasha. She is also a mom of two little ones with a love for Fairfield.  Read more about her below!

Where are you originally from and how long have you been in Fairfield?

I am originally from St. Louis, Missouri. I moved to Fairfield in 2016.

Tell us about your Family!

My husband Alex grew up in New Canaan. We have two children, Sonia (3) and Jack (1) and our lab Charlie (8).

One thing people would be surprised to know about you?

I play violin!

One thing you wish someone would have told you about motherhood?

I wish I knew about the baby bjorn bouncer & halo sleepsacks that zip. So many hours I can’t get back trying to get my first child swaddled & asleep! Sorry Sonia!

What’s your favorite thing about raising a family in Fairfield County?

I love that people here are very passionate, driven, & creative. Also, as someone who grew up in land-locked states, living near the beach has been an incredible lifestyle change & we love it!

Best mom hack that makes your life easier?

Hatch Sound Machine keeps my daughter in bed until 7 when the color & sound changes (most mornings!)

Tell us about your business, Sasha Drexler Dentistry!  Where do you work and how did you get into this profession?

My passion for dentistry began with my parents who each were dentists & had fulfilling careers in private practice. I grew up working in their practices. So, It was a natural step for me to open Sasha Drexler Dentistry. I appreciate the opportunity to have a positive impact on my neighbors & friends within my community.

Why is it important to go to see a dentist and how often should we go? Also what age should children start?

You should see your dentist every 6 months beginning when your first baby tooth erupts or at the latest when your baby is 1 year old per the American Dental Association. The number 1 reason to keep a consistent schedule with your dentist is prevention. When I see a patient every 6 months, I can track their health best & prevent issues from developing.

Tell us about the different services that you offer? How are you different than other dentists?

My services include treating children, whitening, veneers & cosmetic dentistry, implant dentistry, treating spaces in patients’ smiles with Bioclear Treatment, sleep apnea & TMJ therapy, crowns & fillings, & replacing missing teeth.

My mission statement represents why my practice is unique:

With your input, we deliver individualized treatment that will improve your health & your life.

We Resist Complacency

We are committed to clinical excellence through continuing education & best treatment methods, materials, technologies, & sterilization practices.

We Invite You To Visit

We offer care that encourages our patients & community to make this practice their dental home for generations to come.

Best advice for moms who experience the inevitable MOM GUILT handling a career and raising a family?

You are a phenomenal mom when you are working. The hard work & love you have instilled in your children is ever present. You should be proud of all that you do.

Who has most influenced you to be the mom that you are today?

My single mom who ran a dental practice & raised my brother & I. She is a saint & an inspiration.

What advice would you share with a new mom or other moms?

At our newborn group at Village Pediatric, Lauren Baker gave me the best advice:

“Make the best decision you can at the time. If that decision doesn’t work for you at some point, you can reassess & choose a different option then.”
