How old are your kids and how long have you lived in Westport? We have two daughters, Olivia (12) and Harper (11). Like many, we moved from the city to the suburbs in 2013. We spent four years in Stamford before moving to our home in Westport in July 2017.
How did you end up where you are now in terms of your job, or whatever passion project it is you might be doing? I founded Sarah Hanna Design in 2022, and I work hard to create thoughtful, unique spaces that reflect my client’s various lifestyles. My passion for design really deepened after furnishing our first home, as I became increasingly drawn to the intersection of architecture, fashion, furniture – and the impact of our surroundings on daily life and happiness. This led me to pursue a masters in Interior Design. I had previously spent over 20 years as a Fashion exec overseeing sales and merchandising for global luxury brands.
What is the best show you have recently (binge) watched? AND/OR what is the last book you read? I most recently binged Sirens and loved it – such a great cast! I also just read Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid and thought it was fabulous.
What is one food you could not live without? I love eggs with salsa and make omelettes almost every morning. I also can’t start my day without coffee. Most mornings, I walk our dog Lucy to Aux Délice or Starbucks and grab coffee.
What is one product you could not live without? I love using Rossano Ferretti hair products. I go to the salon in NYC and the products are amazing. They are almost 100% natural and have a great scent.
What is your greatest indulgence? Traveling and finding cool and boutique properties for our stays.
If you did not live where you do, where would you like to live? I would want to live somewhere I can be outside and active most of the day. So maybe California with access to both the mountains and ocean.
If you weren’t doing what you are today, what might your career path might have been? A doctor. I’m fascinated by the human body and would love to be able to help people.
Who is your favorite hero of fiction? Who are your heroes in real life? I don’t have any fictional heroes – my real-life heroes are my parents. They’ve always been steady, thoughtful sounding boards for me and have set powerful examples of the kind of parent I want to be. I also consider my own family – my husband and my children – my heroes. They teach me new things every day and continuously inspire me to grow, learn and become the better version of myself.
