How old are your kids and how long have you lived in Westport?  My daughter Charleigh is 7 and my son Redd is 4. We’ve been a part of Westport for nearly a year now and the kids have become deeply involved through school, sports, and local fun!

What has been the hardest thing about raising kids and working full time with long hours? The hardest part for me is just staying present in both roles. Work can always demand more time, attention, and energy, but my kids don’t care about deadlines or meetings — “they hate my meetings” — they just want their dad. But I’ve learned that being present matters more than being perfect. Balancing fatherhood isn’t always easy, but my children have taught me to prioritize what matters most and to make every moment count.

How did you end up where you are now in terms of your job, or whatever passion project it is you might be doing? My path has always been driven by a desire to grow, learn, and create impact beyond myself. Basketball gave me incredible opportunities, from playing in the NBA to traveling the world and learning from coaches, teammates, and leaders. As my career evolved, I became passionate about helping others navigate their own journeys and building businesses that create opportunities for people. That passion led me to launch SOL Sports, a company focused on supporting athletes on and off the court. With SOL Sports I’m able to help young athletes navigate opportunities, build productive systems in their lives, and prepare for life beyond sports. But most importantly, becoming a father has shaped how I view success. My children inspire me to build something meaningful — not just for today, but for the future.

What is your favorite family activity to do in Westport or the surrounding towns? So far, Compo Beach has been my favorite spot to go to. Life can get busy! Being by the beach with my family is hard to beat.

What was your most memorable family vacation and why? One of our most memorable family vacations was a trip to London. Watching my children see a new city, meeting new family, and experiencing a different culture was something I’ll never forget. As a parent, sharing those experiences are special because they create core memories that last long after the trip is over.

What is your proudest moment as a father? My proudest moments as a father aren’t tied to just a single event. They are the everyday moments when I see my children growing into kind, thoughtful, and resilient little people. Watching them work through challenges, supporting each other, and being kind to other people are the things that really make me feel proud.

What/s your favorite sport to play and/or watch? And/or what’s your workout of choice? These days my favorite sport to play and watch is actually boxing. I love the discipline, preparation, and mental toughness it requires. It challenges me physically and mentally.

What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you? Most people don’t know that I have picked up cooking. My life for so long was revolved around training, travel, and games, so cooking wasn’t something I paid much attention to. But I’m on a mission to become at least halfway decent in the kitchen and a master on the grill.

If you had 24 hours to do whatever you wanted- what would you do? If I had 24 hours to do whatever I wanted, I’d spend the entire day watching my kids play sports. Whether it’s soccer, basketball, or Jiu-Jitsu tournaments, watching them is my favorite thing to do. Then to cap it off, I’d love to enjoy a nice family movie night.

What is your greatest regret? One of my greatest regrets is spending too much time worrying about what was next instead of fully appreciating the moment I was in. As an athlete, I was always focused on the next game, the next season, the next goal. Over time I’ve learned how important it is to be present and appreciate the people and experiences right in front of you. It’s a lesson I carry with me every day and one I’m still working on.

What’s your drink of choice? My drink of choice is an ice cold lemonade! I’m not a huge drinker.

What is the one thing your spouse does that you are eternally grateful for? One thing I’ll always be grateful for is the love and dedication she brings to our children. She is an incredible mother who pours so much of herself into making sure they feel supported, cared for, and loved.
