How old are your kids and how long have you lived in Westport/the area? Jonathan will be 15 this fall and William will be 9 in a few weeks! We moved here 5 years ago from my born-and-raised hometown of New York!How did you end up where you are now in terms of your job, or whatever passion project it is you might be doing? I have a GREAT article about that on medium.com HERE! I always loved to cook and entertain from the time I was a child, just like my grandparents. My then-boyfriend-now-husband dared me to go to culinary school 20 years ago and I never looked back!
What was your best memory from 2020, a strange year we know… Doing 100 days of “It’s Lauren of Course” (ILOC) Live on Instagram. Cooking LIVE every day and connecting with the @itslaurenofcourse followers was truly special.
What are you most looking forward to in 2021?
Feeling safe, giving hugs, and getting together!
What is the best book you recently read? I just binged read “Pretty Revenge” by Emily Liebert in one sitting and I LOVED it! Couldn’t put it down!
What’s your favorite app right now- for you- and for your kids? Slice. We love ordering on that app.
What is one food you could not live without? Smoked fish.
What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you? I only voice about 5% percent of what I’m actually thinking!
If you weren’t doing what you are today, what do you think your career path might have been? PR executive for investment banks.
If you had 24 hours to do whatever you wanted to do, what would it be? Walking the streets of a southern French village with my husband before heading out to an alfresco lunch by the sea. Magnifique!
What was your most memorable family vacation and why? Israel 2018. Magical. Spiritual. Beautiful.
What is the best white lie you have told your kids? I’ll sit in your room for an hour while you fall asleep (they fall asleep a lot sooner than that!)
Are you a morning person, or a night owl? How does sleep fit into your life right now? Major night owl. I wake up later than I should. I waste too much of the day because of it, but my creative energy flows freely late at night!
What thing has surprised you most about being in the suburbs? How much I like it!
What is the first thing you do when you walk in the door after a long day? Wash my hands and start cooking…again…because, It’s Lauren, of Course!
Who in your life was – or is – the greatest inspiration for what you’re doing today? My grandmother. And she wasn’t a cook, but she made everything beautiful. And that’s what I seek to do (the medium.com article tells this story particularly well!)
