Meet Kelly, Founder & CMO of YupPup - Westport Moms

How old are your kids and how long have you lived in Westport? Our boys are 14 and 16 and we moved to Westport 3 years ago, then to Palo Alto, CA and came back a year ago. We are SO GLAD to be back!! We missed it a lot.

How did you end up where you are now in terms of your job, or whatever passion project it is you might be doing? I worked in advertising for decades on the creative side. I had the great fortune to work at some amazing agencies with truly wonderful and inspiring people. That said, my husband and I have always been entrepreneurial at heart. YUP PUP was born out of our deep love for dogs, a desire to treat them to the same healthy lifestyle we have, and to create a brand that is upbeat and does good. Plus, what could possibly more fun than creating content with dogs!! YUP PUP is a healthy treat for dogs that is all natural, non-GMO, simple, clean and made with organic ingredients with hemp! What is the best show you have recently (binge) watched? And what book are you currently reading? Over COVID we binged The Flash, then became obsessed with Ted Lasso and now The Black List. Book-wise, I am reading a collection of poems by Eugenio Montale.

What is one food you could not live without? Roasted salted almonds or cashews.

What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you? I have two albums out on I-tunes.

What was your most memorable family vacation and why? Semester at Sea voyage to seven countries in South America when the boys were young. It was magical. We roasted marshmallows on a volcano in Nicaragua, traveled through the Panama Canal, saw tarantulas hiking in a rainforest in Costa Rica and climbed Machu Picchu.

What is the best white lie you have told your kids? Yes, I already signed you up for that. Followed by a panic search for the email with corresponding deadline!

Are you a morning person, or a night owl? Most definitely a morning person. I am up around 5am, and embarrassingly would love to be in bed by 9pm, but Blacklist binging has gotten in the way lately!=)

What is the first thing you do when you walk in the door after a long day? It depends on the day….Eat a pint of mint chocolate chip ice cream or drink ginger tea with a chenille blanket and quiet (if no one is home). Or take a hot bath. Sometimes all 3 at the same time.

Who in your life was – or is – the greatest inspiration for what you’re doing today? Corny I know, but my husband. He is inexhaustibly optimistic and has a relentless resourcefulness, and he does it all with a joyous heart. And my parents who are both gone now…they were a perfect balance of artistic integrity and fearless ambition.
