Meet Jenna! - Westport Moms

How old are your kids and how long have you lived in Westport? My kids are 12 months, 3 and 5 years old. I have two boys and a girl. We moved from NYC a little over 2.5 years ago
What has been the most difficult age with your children to date? What helped you overcome the challenges at that time? I think I am currently experiencing it! One on one time with each child as much as possible is a real healer for everyone. It can be an at home tea party with my middle child and her dolls or it can be a 1/2 day comic book spree in NYC with my oldest. It doesn’t really matter…it just has to be time with the two of them.

What is your favorite family activity to do in Westport or the surrounding towns? Outdoor summer movie nights at our house
What is your proudest mommy moment? Bringing 2 preschoolers (last year) to a thousand prenatal appointments for 9 months. I remember feeling thrilled and proud by the look of sheer and desperate LOVE on their faces when they saw their baby brother for the first time post birth. Every single struggle was worth it, and still is.
What’s your favorite restaurant in town for a family dinner? A night out with friends? Dinner out as a family would have to be Bar Taco. It’s consistently tasty and also so loud that even if the kids are getting silly we hardly hear it! Hibachi over at Sakura is always fun with the kids on a Friday night. Just adults, I love Gray Goose in the winter. That fireplace and consistently good food brings my inner Ernest Hemingway out. Otherwise, I would say dinner with friends in my backyard. I know this is the second time I am mentioning my yard but I love entertaining at home, especially during the summer.
What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you? I have illegible handwriting
If you had 24 hours to do whatever you wanted – what would you do? I am an avid traveler and I love stamps on my passport; the more far flung the better. My ideal 24 hours would involve an airplane. After a good night’s sleep, flying somewhere beautiful or wild with people I love, people watching in an amazing hotel lobby over good coffee before heading off to have an adventure someplace new.
What is your most marked characteristic? Zaniness
What do you most value in your friends? Grit
How did you end up where you are now in terms of your job, or whatever passion project it is you might be doing? Starting Whimsy Party was the ideal way to continue to do the creative event work that I loved in my professional career and finally work for myself. I knew I wanted to be very present with my children but I had always wanted to be my own boss. I took almost two years between leaving fashion magazines and moving my children to CT before I began putting Whimsy together. I wanted to wait until my little ones were settled before I began building the Whimsy brand. NYC is very important to our family and having a company that has a foothold there was a key point for Whimsy. It’s amazing to be inspired every single day both as a mother, but also as an entrepreneur.
