Meet Greg! - Westport Moms

How old are your kids? We have 2 boys, ages 5 and 8.
What has been the hardest thing about raising kids and working full time with long hours?  I try to work from home as much as I can so that I can be involved in my kids’ daily lives.  My home office has desks for my kids so that we can all do “work” together.  But most of all, I try to make sure that when I am with them, I am present.  It means more work gets done late at night when the boys are asleep, which isn’t always easy.  Planning and organization are critical.
What is your favorite family activity to do in Westport or the surrounding towns? Going to Compo, any time of year.
What is your proudest daddy moment? The births of my two sons were surreal, scary, amazing, and of course life changing in the best way possible.  I love seeing my sons accomplish something difficult for them after refusing to give up.  I was also incredibly proud when Dillon and Charlie chose to participate in the Sherwood Island Connector / Park and Ride Clean Up .
What’s your favorite app or gadget right now? My super bright flashlight on my electric bike.
What’s your workout of choice?  My workouts today consist of Pushups and situps with my boys, running around the field when I coach their games and picking up after them
What’s your favorite restaurant in town for a family dinner?  Sherwood diner or the Little Barn. With Friends? Kawa Ni.
What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you? I am a Vegan
What is your greatest regret? Not really a regret, but I would have liked to have worked more in education. The future success of our country and our kids  starts and ends with quality of education.   – I also regret not becoming a NFL Quarterback; the NFL missed out on my tremendous abilities.
What’s your drink of choice?  Iced coffee
What is the one thing your spouse does that you are eternally grateful for? My wife is truly and sincerely a fantastic mother, and I am so thankful every day that my boys will grow up to be great men, husbands and fathers because of her love and support.
What is one piece of advice you would pass along to other dads OR what do you wish you could tell your younger self about being a father? Take a real interest in what your kids are doing, show them the value of hard work, and know that many times the difficult periods are just a phase.
How did you end up where you are now in terms of your job, or whatever passion project it is you might be doing? By always trying to do the right thing, following my gut and moral code, and putting in the time to research and understand every aspect of a deal or opportunity. I am currently running for CT House of Representatives which is the state legislature of the U.S. state of Connecticut. It is a bicameral body composed of the 151-member House of Representatives and the 36-member Senate. It meets in the state capitalHartford. The state operates on a biennial budget cycle. It has a significant impact on Westport as our Education and Town funding from the state has been eliminated and we have been subject to several unfunded mandates from the state. The Assembly also has authority over the entire budget including infrastructure, transportation and taxation.
