Meet Erin! - Westport Moms

How old are your kids and how long have you lived in Westport? My kids are 6, 7 and 9 years old. We moved to Westport full-time nearly 3 years ago, but spent summers and weekends here the 5 prior years.
What is your favorite family activity to do in Westport or the surrounding towns? Anything on the water. We love to sail. Living near the water and being able to keep a sailboat in town is incredible. We love exploring Cockenoe Island.
What was your most memorable family vacation and why? There have been many. Last year, on a whim (based on our shared love of sushi) we booked a winter break trip to Japan. We visited Tokyo, Kyoto and then went skiing in Hakuba. Completely incredible and we learned that in addition to sushi, Tokyo is home to the world’s best pizza.
What is your proudest mommy moment? There have been many meaningful ones, but I will share a superficial moment. We recently taught our kids to surf. They all had such great, resilient attitudes. At the end of the day my face hurt from smiling!

What’s your favorite app right now- for you- and for your kids? Not big on electronics. The only apps I typically use are for directions.
What’s your favorite restaurant in town for a family dinner? A night out with friends? We do family dinner on Thursdays at Bartaco. I have to say I really miss the Dressing Room; my husband and I used to go there every Friday night to watch The House Dressing Band.
What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you? I am quite shy.
If you had 24 hours to do whatever you wanted – what would you do? Early morning pilates, backcountry (and or heli) skiing with husband and kids, après ski with friends and plentiful cocktails, sushi for dinner, and finish the day with a good book in bed.
What is one piece of advice you would pass along to other moms? Spend time with your kids. Take up a family activity that gets you all outside doing something together.
How did you end up where you are now in terms of your job, or whatever passion project it is you might be doing? I grew up a skier (my father was a ski patroller at Mammoth Mountain in CA when I was a kid), and it is my passion. After college I went to work for the fashion brands – Elie Tahari and Theory – in NYC. There was a major disconnect between my ski/snowboard clothes and what I wore every day in the city so I started Erin Snow back in 2003 to fix that. It has since grown to include activewear and year-round athletic apparel. I help get women outdoors, dress them in a way that makes them feel beautiful and empowered to push their boundaries and step out of their comfort zone. I am also very proud of my work in the area of ethical and sustainable fashion – I make clothing that doesn’t hurt people or the planet. We hope to set an example, along with a few other pioneering fashion brands, for how clothing should be made.
