Meet Courtney! - Westport Moms

How old are your kids and how long have you lived in Weston? I have 2 beautiful babies, our son Kenzy (8), and our daughter Anissa (5). We’ve lived in Weston for 7 years.
What has been the most difficult age with your children to date? What helped you overcome the challenges at that time? 4 years old for both kiddos; exercise helped me refocus and energize to keep up
What is your favorite family activity to do in Westport or the surrounding towns? Compo BBQ’s with Friends, Levit Pavilion, Weston 5K’s and Kids Runs
What was your most memorable family vacation and why? Most memorable for us and the kiddos would likely be our trip to Majorca last summer. So many laughs, spent time with cousins we normally don’t see, so many memorable moments and activities
What is the best white lie you have told your kids? Where do babies come from: Mommies and daddies decide they want to have a baby, they talk to God and then it’s a process….
What is your proudest mommy moment? When my kids say “thank you for having me” after they have been hosted as guests!
What’s your favorite app right now- for you- and for your kids? Abcmouse.com for Annie and Sight words for Kenzy
What’s your can’t live without beauty product? M61 exfoliating wipes
What’s your favorite restaurant for a family dinner? A night out with friends? Family restaurant – Osteria Romana; Friends – Spotted Horse, Whelk, and Artisan
What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you? How spazzy I can be; LOL!
If you weren’t doing what you are today, what do you think your career path might have been? Sales! And likely still working in NYC.
If you had 24 hours to do whatever you wanted – what would you do? Jump on a plane and go to a city I haven’t been to before. I’d hit up two coffee shops and the two top suggested restaurants for a decadent lunch and dinner
What is your most marked characteristic? Happy and Motivated
What do you most value in your friends? Love, Trust, Laughs
What is your greatest regret? Most recently, I’ve been regretting not focusing fully on families here in town and missing out on working with so many new Westport and local families!  I also regret not engaging personally on social media to promote our amazing swim school, Children of the Sound (COTS). From 2003-2008, COTS taught hundreds of kids weekly, right here at the Westport Inn, and then some years ago moved to two separate convenient locations on the Norwalk/Westport line.  When we moved, our families all came with us, no questions asked, but I see now that we didn’t spend enough time letting newcomers know that we were around and were great 🙂

Our wonderful floaty Free, firm but loving approach / methodology is so in line with almost all of my peers’ parenting style! They want us to teach their kids to swim.  They need confidence and independence in the water, and that’s exactly what we do!  I only am realizing now that so many parents have missed out because we didn’t reach out enough!

What is one piece of advice you would pass along to other moms? Structure….Create a plan and stick to it. Our kiddos thrive on structure and consistency. Make it easier on everyone when we all know the routine.
How did you end up where you are now in terms of your job, or whatever passion project it is you might be doing?
Life brought me here 🙂 Years of restaurant consulting and startups wasn’t really conducive to family life. When I became pregnant with my 1st, I refocused energy and my husband and I began working on the expansion of Children of the Sound.
