How old are your kids and how long have you lived in Westport? My oldest daughter is 6 and my little one will be 3 in May. We moved here from the city in the summer of 2020.
How did you end up where you are now in terms of your job, or whatever passion project it is you might be doing? I worked in the fashion industry in my early 20’s in NYC and then moved into real estate. Over the past couple years I have worked in interior design but always had a love for fashion. Being that we love to travel and have two girls – I saw a need for stylish, quality Resortwear for littles and decided last year to make it happen with the launch of Mila Lou!
Mila Lou was born from a love of fashion, travel & of course because of my girls. I grew up in California, surrounded by sunshine, color, and a sense of ease that felt joyful and free. After years of living in New York, and now raising my two daughters in the Northeast, I found myself wanting to hold onto that feeling.
Mila Lou is my way of bringing together those worlds, the warmth of California, the inspiration of travel, and the sweetness of motherhood. Each piece is designed to feel special but effortless – something a little girl can wear to the beach, a family dinner, or a summer celebration, and still feel completely comfortable being herself.
What I hope for Mila Lou is that it becomes more than just clothing for girls. I want it to feel like a brand people connect with on many levels! Something mothers are excited to dress their daughters in, and something little girls feel happy and confident wearing. I really hope everyone loves the brand & the pieces as much I do – as though we are bringing a little Cali sunshine to the Northeast. I want Mila Lou to feel like those moments you remember from childhood summers – barefoot, sun soaked, and a little bit magical.
What is the best show you have recently (binge) watched? and what is the last book you read? Favorite show as of lately is Love Story on FX and I am reading “My Own Magic” by Anna Kloots.
What is your favorite podcast? For a fun /easy listen and giggle, I listen to giggly squad. When I need inspiration, I listen to Mel Robbins podcast.
What is one food you could not live without? Mexican – chips, salsa and a fresh marg please!
What is your greatest indulgence? A good deep-tissue massage. A spa day with girlfriends is heaven.
If you did not live where you do, where would you like to live? I’m from California and love the sunshine but I think of all places it would be somewhere in Europe! Amalfi Coast, South of France…somewhere on the water!
What is your favorite hobby? Outside of working on Mila Lou, I love travel, hot yoga, golf, skiing and house projects.
What is your greatest extravagance? I would say travel. With littles we don’t travel as much as we would like to but when we do, we make it count.
When and where were you happiest? Now, with my family – doing what I love. Happiest too when traveling, especially to a beach destination. I also am very happy when in the city. Nothing like NYC energy!
If you weren’t doing what you are today, what might your career path might have been? Anything creative – I love art, photography, interiors. And of course fashion. I think they all go hand-in-hand.
