Meet Amy! - Westport Moms

How old are your kids and how long have you lived in Westport? We moved to Westport almost 10 years ago from New York City and it was the best decision for our family.  Our kids are ages 8, 10 and 12.
What has been the most difficult age with your children to date? What helped you overcome the challenges at that time? The most difficult time with our kids was when they were all very young and needed lots of help — they are all super close in age! We were able to get through the baby phase by sharing the challenges with friends at the same stage of parenting.  Of course, we still have our hands full with three kids, but the day to day physical demands are easier now that we are past the baby and toddler stages.
What is your favorite family activity to do in Westport or the surrounding towns? Our favorite activity is to go to the beach.  Our kids love the water, playground and volleyball courts at Compo and we love to swim in the summer and enjoy the views all year round!
What was your most memorable family vacation and why?  Our most memorable family vacation was a trip last summer to Vermont to share our family business with our kids. We visited the factory where Zyta-C is made.  We loved visiting the cute shops in Burlington, biking around town and swimming in Lake Champlain but more than that, it was a thrill for the kids to see the Zyta-C production process.  Due to the complex nature of creating a liposomal compound, the production process and all the safety and quality measures are intense.  The kids saw this first hand and got to try the brand new batch.
What is the best white lie you have told your kids? Best white lie? My lips are sealed – can never tell!
What is your proudest mommy moment? My proudest mommy moment is when I “catch” my kids being kind to each other — they bicker a lot so it’s great to see that underneath it all they look out for one another.
What’s your can’t live without beauty product? Best beauty product is a good night’s sleep which can be hard to come by in our house!
What’s your favorite restaurant in town for a family dinner? A night out with friends? Our favorite place with the kids is Mecha Noodle Bar in Fairfield.  Our kids love the delicious giant noodle soups and yummy dumplings (and a stop at Milkcraft on the way home if the line isn’t too long).  If it’s out with friends, the Whelk is the best – wonderful food and a great mood!
What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you? People would be surprised to know that I share my husband’s passion for Zyta-C.  Larry created the supplement to combat his own horrible colds and Zyta-C has truly changed his life — he hasn’t had a cold in five years!  Larry is completely obsessed with Zyta-C and people know that I’ve been running the business side of the company.  Many may not know that although I don’t take Zyta-C all day long as Larry does, I too love it and haven’t had a cold since I’ve started using it!
If you had 24 hours to do whatever you wanted – what would you do? If I had 24 hours, I would take my family and friends to the beach with some good food and drinks and make everyone (including adults) leave their phones behind!
What do you most value in your friends? The thing I appreciate most in my friends – aside from the obvious love and support — is laughing together.  As our kids get older, our lives get crazier and being able to sit back and laugh at it all is the best!
What is your greatest regret? No major regrets – great family, great friends, great town, great job – life is good!!
What is one piece of advice you would pass along to other moms? As corny as it sounds, I would tell people to try to step back and enjoy each phase – I wish I could do that more often!  I look at photos of my kids as babies and that already feels like another lifetime.  So whenever I can, I try to appreciate whatever I can about the current stage we’re in (when I’m not stressing out as usual).
How did you end up where you are now in terms of your job, or whatever passion project it is you might be doing? My husband Larry created Zyta-C several years ago to combat his own horrible colds.  When we realized how effective the product was for us for overall wellness and fighting colds and flu, we shared it with friends and they had the same positive experience. So we decided that while Larry is more than busy with his radiology position at Yale, I could use my business background to make Zyta-C into a consumer product.  We wanted to share it with the world since it’s the only product that has both liposomal Vitamin C and liposomal zinc and we believe this is critical to making it effective.
