Email Spoofing/Phishing is a method where hackers trick users to think an email is coming from a legitimate source (Amazon, Apple, LinkedIn, etc) to capture sensitive information such as Usernames, Passwords, Credit Cards, and in some cases take control of the computer. Here are 3 tips on how to identify and prevent your information from getting stolen:

  • If you are not expecting the email do not click any links in the body. Instead, go directly to official company website to access your account.
  • Verify the full email address of the sender, especially the second part after the @, if it doesn’t look legitimate, it most likely isn’t.
  • Take a screenshot and talk to your tech support.
