More about the Greenfield Family and Breathe 4ALS

Jonathan and Iris Greenfield live in Westport, Connecticut with their three children, Zach, Skye and Josie. Once dubbed “the most interesting person in Westport,” Jonathan and Iris lead a busy and active life, finding time both for themselves and their children. Jonathan participated in a handful of triathlons in 2018, is a year-round surfer, loves jiujitsu, has traveled the world making documentary films for the Westdeustcher Rundfunk (WDR) in Germany, was a freelance photographer for the New York Times, and is a certified tea specialist and teacher for the Specialty Tea Institute.
In December, 2018, Jonathan was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (often referred to as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease), a neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.  Jonathan falls within the approximately 10% of cases of ALS that are considered “familial ALS.” Jonathan’s father Dr. Hyman Greenfield passed away in September 2015 following complications from ALS, and his brother Seth Greenfield was diagnosed with ALS in the fall of 2018.
True to form, Jonathan is facing the challenge head on. “I want people to know I’ve been truly blessed in my life. I’ve traveled the world and experienced some truly unique events. I met and married a truly unique and beautiful independent woman and have three beautiful and healthy kids. I’m ok. And I welcome this challenge. I truly do. I wish I knew how to clearly express turning this into a positive experience. I’m living one. I just wish everyone could join me in it.”
It is with that attitude and spirit Jonathan and Iris are determined to raise funds for research and care for ALS patients by spreading awareness on the benefits of Wim Hof breathing method for ALS patients, and facilitating these workshops throughout the country
