How old are your kids and how long have you lived in Westport? My husband (of 22 years) and I have a blended family consisting of 4 kids, 2 his and 2 mine, now ages 28-32. I have lived in Westport for 22 years.
How did you end up where you are now in terms of your job, or whatever passion project it is you might be doing? About 5 years ago, I bought the boutique WEST on the Post Rd in Westport. I was a customer and fan of the store founded by Westporter, Laura Maged, and when she moved to California, I stepped in because I feel passionate about this community and local business.
What was your best memory from the last few COVID years, a strange time we know…Like many families, having all of our adult children back home, was a very special time. I know we all say it, but time really does fly and our kids grow up and are on their own before we can barely blink. One positive of COVID was the perception that we pressed the pause button for a moment in time. Having the 6 of us under one roof, albeit for a short period, was a memory I will treasure.
What is the best show you have recently (binge) watched? AND/OR what is the last book you read? During the shutdown I watched and rewatched VEEP, probably hundreds of times. I just can’t get enough of that show. I recently read Sister Stardust by another Westport mom, Jane Green. And I loved it!
What is your favorite podcast? The Mind Your Business Podcast with James Wedmore. And The Business of Fashion
What is one food you could not live without? Dunkin’ Donuts Munchkins. My daughters’ brought me a box of 60 for my 60th birthday and I ate every last one.
What is your greatest fear? Too many to list. I’m a big scaredy cat. I was much more fearless when I was younger. With maturity has come more fear. We could probably write an entire book on that subject. And, speaking of books… (shameless plug coming here) I wrote a memoir on my life with my mother titled “Eartha and Kitt. A Daughter’s Love Story In Black & White”; I do talk a little about fear in my book.
What is your greatest indulgence? And it all comes back to those Dunkin Munchkins….
Which talent would you most like to have? I have often been told that I don’t have a nice voice like my mother, the legendary entertainer Eartha Kitt, for those of you who did not know=)
What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you? I’m a huge Country Music fan!
If you weren’t doing what you are today, what might your career path might have been? A Hollywood stunt woman.
If you could travel to one place this next year, where would it be and why? Bali. Does one even need to ask why…
Are you a morning person, or a night owl? How does sleep fit into your life? I’m actually a morning person and a night owl. It’s those daytime hours I have a tough time with.
What is one product you could not live without? I do love the Nuxe Shimmer Oil we carry in my store WEST, but the one product I use every day, all year long, is Skinceuticals Vitamin C Serum and Daily Brightening UV Defense Sunscreen SPF 30.
What thing has surprised you most about being in the suburbs? How little I return to NYC.
What is the first thing you do when you walk in the door after a long day? Kiss my baby Beagle Cali.
Who is your favorite hero of fiction? Who are your heroes in real life? Catwoman! Obviously=) In real life… Definitely my mother, who was always true to herself and spoke her mind, even when her opinion was not always popular. I have always been an admirer and was lucky enough to have met General Colin Powell after he served as Secretary of State. A truly impressive man.
