How old are your kids and how long have you lived in Westport? We have two girls who are 8 and 11, and we have lived here for 14 years!
How did you end up where you are now in terms of your job, or whatever passion project it is you might be doing? I studied photography at NYU undergrad, having always been interested in photographing people. I then worked for over a decade as a producer for a fashion photographer in NYC. For so much of my life, I just loved documenting those simple moments, and have always believed that images are how we tell the stories of our lives. I love that pictures are the moments of your story. You never get those moments back, so capturing them helps them last forever., and this experience
Nine years ago, I decided to go out on my own, and launched Jen Goldberg photography, which is a lifestyle portrait brand, focusing primarily on kids and families. Four years ago, I started Private Portraits, which is a sophisticated boudoir brand. In reality, Private Portraits emerged from my desire to help women celebrate the uniqueness of themselves through images. I love the idea of empowering women with their own beauty. For me, Private Portraits is about creating beautiful portraits of YOU that feel inspiring – and that celebrates what makes you you. Each boudoir session is tailored to the individual.
This type of work is something I want to be accessible to everyone, as I believe everyone should be able to celebrate their own beauty in an artistic way. What is your favorite family activity to do in Westport or the surrounding towns? We love to take our golden retriever, Luna, to the beach, to the park or hiking.
What’s your favorite app right now- for you- and for your kids? The personalized apps I create for each client with their images. These can be viewed and shared anytime, anywhere.
What’s your can’t live without beauty product? Aquaphor
If you could pick one restaurant or store to come to Westport that isn’t here now, what would it be, and why? An Apple store. I always seem to have a question, and I would love nothing more than to be in the space with the geniuses, learning from them whatever I can.
What are you most excited about in life right now? Im excited to turn 40! I feel really truly happy in this stage of my life and that I am in the right place for me right now.
What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you? I still have baby teeth – 4 of them to be exact. They never fell out.
If you weren’t doing what you are today, what do you think your career path might have been? I think I would be a backup dancer for PINK. I practice every day with Zumba. I will dance anywhere that I can – be it at Intensity, Fitness Edge, or DUDs. I will dance wherever they let me in (and it should be noted, not always with a whole lot of rhythm!)
If you had 24 hours to do whatever you wanted – what would you do? I would see 3 movies and not leave in between. I might even take my husband and kids with me.=)
What is the best white lie you have told your kids? That I never lie
What is your proudest mommy moment? Every day they get to school on time
What do you most value in your friends? Humor and laughter
What is your greatest regret? I try to live without them
