Westport Mom, Kate Pollock, and twin sister share their story battling cancer together, and will participate in this Saturday's Swim Across America event! - Westport Moms

Kate Pollock – Westport mom, yoga teacher and cancer survivor – will be swimming and speaking alongside her twin sister at this Saturday’s Greenwich-Stamford Swim Across America event.

Kate and her twin Liza were diagnosed with invasive ductal breast cancer just months from each other and before their 40th birthday.  Kate’s son was 5 months old at the time and her daughter 4.  Now her children are 3 and 6 and Kate is 2 years cancer free.  Her sister is a two-time cancer survivor and is now 1 year cancer free.  Their path to recovery has been an uphill climb but they emerged survivors because of each other and the support of family and friends. She and her sister swim to honor fellow survivors, in memory of friends’ family members, and to hold up friends in the throes of cancer now.  They swim because they think the protocol for cancer treatment needs to change and the Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy is paving that way.  They swim to raise awareness and funds for game changing research that allows for more treatment options.  100% of the funds raised go to ACGT, the only not-for-profit organization in the nation dedicated exclusively to fostering research into cell and gene therapies for cancer.  If you’re anywhere along the path from diagnosis and recovery and would like to practice yoga with Kate, reach her through her website: coastalsolyoga.com
