Since debuting in 2010 with the slow and soulful Pauper’s Field, the Louisiana native and son of Muscle Shoals session player James LeBlanc has presented himself as a bluesy, country-folk troubadour with a honeyed voice and knack for crafting world-weary ballads that ache with the hard-earned wisdom of somebody much older.
LeBlanc has a lot of people looking forward to October 20th when his concept album “Coyote” comes out. The title track is about the main character trying to find his way out of poverty in the criminal underworld. It’s not only topical, it gives you vibes of the best of JJ Cale.
“LeBlanc has taken his Springsteen-esque narratives out of the woodshed and onto the open road, and has delivered his best offering to date.” – Allmusic
“In another parallel universe, he was anointed by Neil Young as his successor and true heir” — Music OMH
“…he’s refined his orchestral ’70s pop and introspective folk-country craft.” — NPR
