Mark your calendar for The Westport Library Big Fall Book Sale, to be held Friday, November 11 through Monday, November 14 on the Library’s main level at 20 Jesup Road.
This Book Sale offers something for everyone, with thousands of gently used books in more than 50 categories, including children’s, literature and classics, fiction, mysteries, and SciFi/fantasy, art, photography, history, math, science, psychology, religion, biography, business, cooking, gardening, performing arts, travel, foreign language, and more, including Noteworthy, especially antiquarian books. A broad selection of DVDs and CDs will also be available, as well as a limited selection of ephemera and artwork.
The book sale hours, with free admission, are as follows:
Friday, November 11: 1pm — 6pm
Saturday, November 12: 9am — 5pm
Sunday, November 13: 1pm — 5pm (everything half-price)
Monday, November 14: 9am — 4pm (shoppers can fill our logo bag for $8 per bag, or their own equivalent-sized bag for $5, or buy individual books at half-price)
On Friday morning, November 11, from 8:45am to 1pm, the Book Sale will be open only to patrons who purchase an Early Access ticket in advance. Early Access tickets are available online, through eventbrite.com, at westportfall2022booksale.eventbrite.com. Of special interest for this sale:
• A selection of vintage book sets in attractive leather bindings, perfect for decorating home library book shelves
• A sizable collection of books from the Library of America series, each in its own slipcase• An extensive collection of history books, especially American history & politics, WWII, and World History[email protected]• A large assortment of cookbooks • NEW: Fiction For $1 Room — an entire conference room devoted to hardcover fiction, mystery, science fiction and fantasy books, as well as young adult fiction, and paperback novels, all at just $1 each • A big collection of paperback romance novels, all in new condition, offered at 2 for $1 (also in the Fiction room) • An extensive collection of holiday-themed books, CDs and DVDs, just in time for the winter holidays • Donated from the personal library of Westport resident Joseph Califano, former U.S. Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare in the Carter administration, dozens of books signed and inscribed to him or his wife Hilary, including books written and signed by other cabinet secretaries, senators and congress members, civil rights leaders, and others. Most are in nonfiction categories (e.g., history & politics, biographies, business, sports) with a small selection to be offered in our Noteworthy category; look for gold-colored “Signed” stickers in the books.
