If you like New York bagels, Shark Tank and/or kick-ass women entrepreneurs, Elyse is your girl! Amidst careers in finance, she and her husband Nick spent years brainstorming business ideas until one day they decided to pursue the idea of creating and selling pre-filled on-the-go bagels, and their dreams became a reality! Enter Bantam Bagels! Over the last 6 years, Elyse (and her husband) built their company (starting with a small shop on Bleecker St), had 2 boys, moved to Westport and traveled an amazing journey. After pitching their company on Shark Tank (very pregnant no less), the company truly took off, and they’ve never looked back! Bantam Bagels are now a staple across Starbucks, most grocery stores nationwide, and of course millions of households! Fun facts – Elyse doesnt leave her house without lipstick, still eats bagels every morning, and shares that her husband remains her greatest source of inspiration! We are so lucky to have you in our community, and are going out to buy bagels NOW! Thanks for changing the way we do breakfast!!

Did you know that more than half of wrapping paper gets dumped and landfilled, and can’t get recycled? All that paper exists just to get ripped to shreds in 60 seconds! Find more info about super creative, easy and fun ways to upcycle what you have instead of using store bought stuff. If you like clothes and shopping, you likely know about Groove, a beloved children’s and women’s clothing store in Westport, run by the driven and talented owner and local mom of 3, Corri Neckritz. What started as a small business out of her home to fill a desire she had to find hip, yet tasteful clothing for her own children, has grown over 20+ years into a tremendously successful and coveted brand and retail store. Some fun facts about Corri – she loves dogs (and has four herself!), has her masters in elementary education, and is a host family for the “A Better Chance” program, with a scholar spending time in their home on weekends. Like Corri and her family, Groove is always looking to give back, and partners closely with many local organizations, including STAR and Abilis. She is also currently supporting Local Love at Groove, offering 20% off through Sunday!! We are grateful for all she has brought to this community – and let’s be honest, our kids are pretty well dressed thanks to her!

Welcome to The Local Moms Network 2019 Holiday Gift Guide! Before kids, we had all our holiday shopping done by (or shortly after) Thanksgiving. Post-kids? We sometimes find ourselves relying on anything available with overnight shipping, or online gift cards (when we’re truly out of ideas). We hope this shortlist provides you with both some solid inspiration and any needed motivation to check all of the dads, moms, kids and everyone in between off your list early, and give unique gifts they’ll love and use over and over.
If you have noticed or met a tall woman with an endearing Brooklyn accent running around town with three adorable girls (and possibly a lab!), it is likely Michelle-Lee! After taking some time away from her career in finance, Michelle-Lee got involved with The Sunrise Association, and more specifically Sunrise Day Camps, the world’s only dedicated full summer day camp for children with cancer and their siblings all provided for free! As part of her time with Sunrise, Michelle volunteers weekly in Montefiore’s oncology unit, brightening the days of the kids and giving their parents a much needed hour to themselves. A fun fact – once a year, Michelle-Lee also cans tomatoes (800 lbs last summer) with family and friends, a tradition many look forward to. Michelle-Lee is someone with a heart of gold, who Westport – and Sunrise – are truly lucky to have. If you are interested in learning more, or helping with her current initiative to fill 200 stockings for the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, email her directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
While there are tons of childcare options in the suburbs, most towns tend to have one approach that’s most popular. “Every town has its own childcare ‘personality,’” says Suburban Jungle Strategist Alli Levine. “Kids may go from preschool to extended care. Parents may pick up from school every day. In other towns, driving nannies take kids from parks and playdates to activities.” Here’s what Suburban Jungle suggests people moving consider…

Just launched this past summer, Coterie is the highest quality diaper available, with twice the absorbency (read: fewer leaks, blowouts and overnight protection), softer and safer materials and a true commitment to sustainability.
