Meet Julie!

Meet Julie!

While the at-home fitness market has exploded with spin bikes, workout videos, and more, Weston mom, Julie Wald, and her husband were ahead of the curve when they launched Namaste New York, an in-home fitness and wellness business 17 years ago! Namaste matches you with the best in class practitioners in health and wellness for private in-home sessions (think massages, nutrition, personal training!). Outside of work, Julie loves weekend hikes with her 3 kids, particularly at Devil’s Den, family trips (most recently to Portugal and Spain), and in another life might have been a psycho-therapist. Julie’s work keeps her grounded and in the moment, and there is no question that in this crazy world we live in, all of us could benefit from a little Namaste!

How to Organize the Kitchen Pantry of Your Dreams

How to Organize the Kitchen Pantry of Your Dreams

Pantry organization isn’t a glamorous task, but it can be extremely satisfying. Picture it: All your spices perfectly positioned on a lazy Susan so their labels are legible, dry goods displayed in clear glass containers with beautiful labeling, and all your cooking oils within easy reach. This type of order can save you time—and what mom doesn’t want that? Check out these tips from ShelfGenie to help you be more organized in 2019!

Meet Robin!

Meet Robin!

Whether you are looking for a kick-start (food or exercise-wise) in the New Year, or just some new kid AND parent-friendly recipes, Robin is a mom not to miss! With degrees in Nutrition and Personal Fitness from Cornell and Columbia, Robin is incredibly talented, knowledgeable and no-nonsense. Growing up, her mom was very health-food focused, and this – combined with her many decades as a dancer – inspired her own desire to eat and live well. While Robin’s body is a temple, chasing after two young boys has helped her become a bit less of a perfectionist, and it is working with clients in NYC and CT on an individual and group basis that keeps her balanced. Robin loves vacationing in Vail and the Hamptons with her family, art and design, and though she hasn’t danced in awhile, her most recent performance was a surprise multi-song dance with her husband at 11pm on her wedding night! Robin’s belief is that healthy eating and living are about a lifestyle – and not a quick fix, and her programs teach each person how to do this. If you are interested her “Nourished for the New Year” program will be starting next week, so you can reach out anytime at [email protected]

Melissa Joan Hart’s Holiday Plans

Melissa Joan Hart’s Holiday Plans

Actress Melissa Joan Hart (a beloved friend to many in Westport!) is best known for her memorable leading roles on Clarissa Explains It All and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. But to her family and friends, she’s also known for being something of a Christmas nut. “I’ve always been really into the holidays. I throw big parties this time of year. And with kids, it takes on another level,” says Melissa. Given her enthusiasm for the season, it makes sense that she has starred in four different Christmas flicks. Though she has left Westport for a brief hiatus, she shared some of her holiday favorites with us!

Paper Greats: Pretty Paper Goods That Will Give You Back Time

Paper Greats: Pretty Paper Goods That Will Give You Back Time

On the website for their new paper goods company, Paper Greats, CT-based founders Heather Terry and Selina Fletcher write: “Life is short—let us take something off of your plate and put it on ours.” You don’t have to ask us twice—and we’re already huge fans of their recycled, recyclable and compostable (read: eco-friendly) paper trays, cups and notepads.

The Elf on The Shelf Interview: Behind The Book & Brand

The Elf on The Shelf Interview: Behind The Book & Brand

Anyone else all about the Elf on the Shelf this time of year? Since 2004, The Elf on the Shelf brand has grown from a single children’s book, written by mother daughter team Chanda Bell and Carol Aebersold as a way to reconnect with each other and share a personal family tradition with readers, to a veritable industry of toys, clothes (yes, there is a “couture collection” for your temporary addition), pets and even a movie. Thirteen million books—and scout elves, as Chanda and family refer to them—have been sold. The Local Moms Network sat down with Chanda, who still runs the company with her mother and sister Christa Pitts, to talk about this incredible family (and female)-owned business.
